The summer of 1998, unremarkable and hot, is when they first crossed paths. Shama was the "new girl" at the yearly Hindu summer camp in Eastern Pennsylvania. Manan did his best to woo Shama with his 13-year-old charm; however, Shama was preoccupied with dance class and friendship bracelets. A dispirited Manan accepted that his new friendship with Shama would be nothing more, and the two left camp as such.
Five years later, Shama and Manan met again through pure serendipity. Perhaps it was fate, Manan’s spontaneity and maturity, or even Boston's cooler fall temperature – whatever it may be, the two finally fell in love.
13 years of sharing memories, growing their love, and looking forward to the future together, one can say that summer of 1998 was not unremarkable after all...
